Approximately 35,000 fans are estimated to convene on the corner of Surf and Stillwell avenues in Coney Island to watch the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest in person. Millions more watch the ESPN telecast of the contest.
World Champion Joey Chestnut currently holds the title of hot dog-eating world champion after setting a new world record of 76 hot dogs and buns in 2021. Last year’s female champion, Michelle Lesco, will defend her title from top-ranked female Miki Sudo, who has returned from maternity leave. Miki’s all-time best is 48.5 Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.
